This piece is inspired by the Hasanlu lovers. Found in modern day Iran, this grave is dated to 800 BCE. It is believed that when this site was excavated, this city had been under siege from opposing forces. These two individuals were thought to have hidden away to avoid capture and death. They were then most likely encapsulated in their hiding place due to the destruction of the city. Now faced with their inevitable demise, their final moment of tenderness is caught forever in this tender embrace.
